As humans, we strive to see patterns that solve problems and provide structure in a confusing world. I use a language of geometric symbols - circles, squares, and triangles - coupling their orderly patterns with water-based media allowed to choose its own path. I establish a set of rules for each work, around composition or color, and then I bend them a little to see what will happen. Working with triangle grids, I began layering on circles and saw that they were mandalas, objects used for sacred prayer and reflection.
